Valentine’s Day is out and Galentine’s Day is in! Haven’t heard of it? Galentine’s day is quite simply — a day for the gals! This is a day to celebrate all the lovely women in your life, especially your friends. While February 14th was typically celebrated by romantic couples, the single ladies had something to say about it! Over time, Galentine’s day has become a yearly event in many friend groups, whether single or taken. It’s an evening of fun, rom-coms, delicious food, and you guessed it — cocktails! Here are our favourite Galentine’s day cocktails to try with your gal pals this year!
The Pink Lady (via The Spruce Eats)

This is one of the original “pink drinks”, popularized by the high-society ladies of the mid-1900s. It isn’t as sweet as some of the other pink cocktails we know (such as the Cosmopolitan), and it has a light foamy top thanks to the egg white! The standout ingredients in this cocktail are gin and applejack (Apple Brandy). The liquor, shaken with lemon juice, grenadine and egg whites creates a velvety, slightly tart drink! Top with Maraschino cherries and it’s the perfect classy lady drink.
Blackberry Champagne Mule (via Half-Baked Harvest)

What’s Galentine’s Day without some champagne?! Add in some fresh blackberries, vodka, mint, lime, topped with ginger beer and I think we’ve got ourselves a killer cocktail! The muddled blackberries give it that signature Galentine’s day look, while the bubbles give it the festive, fancy edge we all love.
La Vie En Rose (via Home with Gabby)

Similar to the Pink Lady, this drink uses egg whites to create that perfect foamy top. However, if you’re looking for a unique cocktail to serve your gal pals, this one definitely fits the bill! The standout ingredient? Rose-flavoured gin. You’ll need a cocktail shaker for this one, but it’s oh so worth it. Rose gin, St-Germain (elderflower liqueur), orange bitters and pomegranate juice makes for a sweet, yet delicate drink. There’s just something about a pink foamy top that makes everyone want to try it!
Watermelon Mint Frosé (via A Beautiful Mess)

Finally, the Frosé is a perfect cocktail to make ahead for your Galentine’s Day celebration! Not only is it pink, but it’s also easy to make and doesn’t require any fancy cocktail gear. Simply freeze cubes of watermelon overnight. The next day, add them to a blender with your favourite rosé, lemon juice, mint and some honey. Garnish your glasses however you’d like (a simple sugared rim will do the trick) and serve. Pink perfection!
Rose & Ginger Paloma (via Half-Baked Harvest)

A twist on a classic drink, this cocktail is that perfect light pink shade with just the right amount of kick! The Paloma, a tequila-based drink that has a generous amount of grapefruit juice to give it that acidity and colour. The tartness of the grapefruit balances the strength of the tequila, creating a delicious balance. The twist? Rosewater and ginger beer. Add in some dried rose petals and you have yourself a Galentine’s day staple!
