Spring has finally sprung! The mild weather means we can spend more time outdoors and hopefully, the added vitamin D will bring us that much-needed boost of serotonin. Here are some fun things to do this spring, if you are looking for inspiration.
Go on a bike ride
Probably my all-time favourite spring activity — taking out my bike for the first time! There’s nothing like fresh air and a bike ride in the spring to make you feel energized and renewed for the season. You can bike with others or go solo, either way, it’s bound to make you feel like a kid again!
Happy hour by the water
Ahh, the first happy hour outdoors — isn’t it a joyous occasion? Finishing your day at work, stepping outside and realizing that even at 5 pm it’s still warm enough to have a beer outside? Invite your colleagues, head to the canal and bring the drinks with you! Just don’t forget your sunglasses and a towel!
Go to the market
While this is something you can do year-round, going to the farmer’s market without needing to wear your coat, scarf and gloves is just so much more enjoyable! All you have to worry about is bringing your reusable bag and browsing all the local produce that’s finally arrived for spring. Not only is it a great way to get seasonal fruits and veggies, but it’s also a great way to give back to the community!

Take up a new hobby
As I said earlier, spring is the season where we all start to feel a little happier. Now that winter is behind us, we all have a little more pep in our step! What better time than spring to start a new hobby? Take a pottery class or a dance class — learn to play a new instrument or maybe plant an herb garden. The possibilities are endless!
Go to a sports game
Watching a live sports game is always more fun than watching it on the screen. It’s even more fun when you can be outside for a few hours and not freeze your butt off! The spring is the start of both soccer and baseball season so take your pick! To be honest, you don’t even need to love the sport — the ambiance, the competition and the fans are definitely enough to make this a fun experience!

Declutter
Spring usually involves cleaning and decluttering. If it doesn’t, I strongly recommend it! Of course, it isn’t always fun in the moment, but it’s usually very rewarding and makes you realize how little you really need. If that doesn’t sell you on the idea, tell yourself that if you declutter enough in your closet, then you can go shopping as a reward!
Have a tie-dye party
Maybe tie-dye is *so* 2021 (I sure hope not), but there is something so fun and liberating about transforming old t-shirts and sweatshirts into colourful pieces of clothing. It’s a great way to get creative with friends and give your clothes a second life! Plus, I’m sure you and your pals will get a good laugh trying to figure out your patterns and making a mess in the process.
Attend a concert
Again, an activity that is available year-round, but with all the pandemic restrictions this is the first season that concerts are officially back on the table! Spring and summer are popular seasons for artists to go on tour, so you may want to keep an eye out for your favourite band. Personally, I’m happy to attend a concert any time of year, but not having to worry about a coat check is a huge plus!
